Semi-Skilled Commercial Vehicle Workshop Assistant
Location: Heathline Commercials, Cramlington, Northumberland
Hours: Full time- 40 hours per week
HGV Class 1 or 2 Licence preferred, but not essential
Heathline Commercials is looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Semi-Skilled Workshop Assistant to join our busy commercial vehicle workshop in Cramlington.
We're a well-established, family-run business with over 50 years' experience in commercial vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs.
We're looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in keeping things organised and isn't afraid to get stuck in!
You don't need to be a fully qualified mechanic, but some mechanical knowledge or experience working in a garage or workshop environment would be an advantage.
What you'll be doing
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. Your duties will include:

Assisting our vehicle technicians with servicing, repairs and general maintenance.

Carrying out basic vehicle maintenance, including checking oil and water levels, changing bulbs and torquing wheel nuts.

Cleaning and washing commercial vehicles.

Keeping the workshop, wash bay and outside areas clean, tidy and organised.

Collecting parts from suppliers.

Assisting with the collection and return of customer vehicles – licence depending.

Removing, preparing and refitting vehicle components for painting.

Ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.

Completing job cards and recording work carried out.

Reporting any additional vehicle defects to the Workshop Controller.

Disposing of old parts and waste materials safely.

Supporting the workshop team with other duties as required.
What we're looking for

A practical, hands-on person with a good work ethic.

Some basic mechanical knowledge or workshop experience would be beneficial.

A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Someone who is reliable, punctual and willing to learn.

A team player who is happy to help wherever needed.

Good attention to detail and a commitment to health and safety.

Someone who takes pride in their work and maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, who is willing to work hard and be part of the team.
Working Hours
-
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Working between 6.00am and 7.30pm, depending on workshop requirements.

Occasional Saturday mornings, 7.00am–12.00pm, as required.

Flexibility for additional hours when necessary.
