Joined Moody Logistics (sister company) on a driver apprenticeship in August 2015.
Dean achieved his Class 2 license in January 2016 and Class 1 in November 2016.
Dean started his apprenticeship with Heathline Commercials in Sep 2024.

Lead HGV Technician
Craig has worked in the industry from being 16 and joined Heathline Commercials in 2021 as an apprentice.
Craig has since become Healthline's lead HGV technician in May 2025

Apprentice HGV Technician

- Location: Cramlington
- Hours: 40 hours/week (10:30am – 7:30pm, Monday to Friday)
- College Attendance: 1 day per week
- Salary: Apprenticeship wage (increasing with qualifications)
Heathline is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to become an Apprentice HGV Technician. If you're passionate about how vehicles work, eager to get hands-on and ready to learn from the best, this is an exciting opportunity to learn from experienced technicians, gain a nationally recognised qualification and build a rewarding career maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.
π§What You’ll Learn:
As part of our experienced team, you’ll gain real-world skills and hands-on experience, including how to:
- Perform vehicle safety inspections and MOT preparations to DVSA standards
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on heavy commercial vehicles
- Use advanced diagnostics tools to identify and fix faults
- Complete digital job cards and inspection reports using tablets and garage software

What We’re Looking For:
You don’t need to be an expert yet — just someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn. We’re looking for candidates who are:
- Genuinely interested in mechanics and vehicle systems
- Hands-on, practical, and not afraid to get stuck in
- Good communicators and strong team players
- Conscious of safety (your own and others)
- In possession of a full UK driving licence (held for at least 1 year)
- Class 2 licence is a bonus, but not essential

π§ What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out inspections, repairs, and MOT prep (DVSA standard, of course)
- Getting stuck into diagnostics and sorting faults fast
- Keeping things moving with routine servicing & maintenance on all kinds of heavy commercial vehicles
- Completing digital job cards & inspections using tablets (we're not stuck in the stone age!)
- Occasional off-site repairs and maintenance
β Skills & Qualifications required
- A full UK driving licence (Class 2 is a nice bonus)
- Knowledge of various commercial vehicles
- Knowledge & Confidence with diagnostic tools and garage management systems
- Good knowledge of DVSA vehicle standards
- You’re fully qualified time-served fitter with experience in the industry
